Western Springs Boy Blackmailed By Female: Cops
The resident was targeted through social media, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs released their latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the reports:
- A resident in the 5800 block of Woodland Avenue told police March 8 that his juvenile son was blackmailed via Snapchat by a female he had friended. His son transferred $375 to the female.
- A woman told police that another car struck her front bumper while merging into her lane and attempting to make a U-turn. It happened about 5:30 p.m. March 8 at Ogden and Forest avenues. The incident was labeled a hit-and-run crash.
- A woman said three of her credit cards were fraudulently used to buy gift cards Saturday at Walgreens, 4700 Gilbert Ave.
- Lashawn Murphy, 51, of Elgin, was cited shortly before midnight at Ogden and Woodland avenues on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and speeding. He was released on bond.
