Western Springs Businessman Scammed Out Of $16K: Cops

The man met with the scammer at his place of business and gave her the money, authorities said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A man was scammed out of $16,600 by a woman who visited his place of business in Western Springs last week, police said.

Police said the man signed up online for a credit card. Shortly after, he was contacted about fraudulent activity on his account.

On Jan. 12, the man met with a woman at his business in the 1100 block of Hillgrove Avenue, police said.

The woman was described as Hispanic, in her 40s and driving a black Cadillac Escalade.

The man then gave the woman the cash, and she drove away, police said.
