Western Springs Couple Scammed Out Of $30K: Cops

Another person was defrauded out of $3,500 for a so-called real estate transaction, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police released their latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the reports:

Scams

  • A couple who lives in the 3800 block of Lawn Avenue told police Wednesday that they were scammed out of $30,000. The woman sent currency electronically, along with gift cards.
  • A woman in the 1100 block of Park Avenue told police Wednesday that she was scammed out of $3,500. She wired the money to people for a potential real estate transaction, which she later realized was fraudulent.

  • A basement window was reported damaged Friday at the Grand Avenue Community Center building, 4211 Grand Ave.

Driving violations

  • A 50-year-old Westmont man was arrested about 11 a.m. Thursday at Ogden Avenue and Wolf Road on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured car and driving with an expired registration.
