Monday, April 15
Failure to yield, reduce speed
Jane O'Connell Delaney, 66, of the 5200 block of Harvey Street, was ticketed for failure to yield at an intersection, police said. Officers said she approached 51st Street and Gilbert Avenue and collided with a car, causing it to spin and hit the curb. The driver of the second car, James L. Harp, Jr., 43, of the 4800 block of Joliet Road, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, police said. Neither driver reported any injuries.

Failure to reduce speed
Ryan J. Pelland, 24, of the 0-100 block of North Ashland Avenue, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed and for driving without insurance after police said he rear-ended a car stopped in traffic near the 4700 block of Wolf Road. The driver of the second car sustained minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital.
Improper backing
Julia M. Chrusciel, 25, of the 4700 block of Johnson Avenue, was cited for improper backing after police said she backed out of a parking space and sideswiped a parked car in the Garden Market parking lot. No injuries were reported.

Car breaks off railroad crossing gate
An unidentified two-door yellow sports car was stopped for an approaching train at about 8:30 a.m. at the northbound train tracks located at Burlington Avenue and Wolf Road when police said the arm of the railroad gate came down on top of the car. The car backed up and broke off the arm of the gate. A passenger in the car got out and boarded the train, police said. The car drove off down Burlington Avenue.
Man drives onto lawn
Joseph F. Wysopal, 87, of the 4600 block of Madison Avenue in Brookfield, was ticketed for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed when he drove his car through a fence and onto a yard at the 5200 block of Harvey Avenue, police said. Wysopal was exiting La Grange Memorial Hospital, traveling westbound towards Gilbert Ave. and sped through the intersection. The driver sustained minor injuries.
