Western Springs Reports Flooding In Spots

Flagg Creek is high, so storm sewer systems are unable to fully handle flooding, village says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Heavy storms Sunday evening resulted in flooding in a number of spots in Western Springs, the village reported. Public works crews and first responders are being dispatched and are closing flooded streets.

According to a village news release, Flagg Creek, where much of the village's stormwater goes, is high. "Storm sewer systems will not be able to fully alleviate any on-street flooding until creek levels lower to allow for relief to the system," the release said.

Because of the numerous spots of flooding, public works crews will be unable to respond to localized backyard flooding issues, the news release said. Public works crews are aware of all current street flooding locations and are in the process of responding, the release said.
