Western Springs Garbage Company Changes This Week

Republic Services plans to pick up its containers curbside Tuesday. Lakeshore starts collecting Thursday.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Tuesday is the last day Republic Services will collect garbage in Western Springs. Starting Thursday, Lakeshore Recycling Services will be the new trash hauler in the village.

According to a village statement, Republican has indicated it will pick up all its carts curbside Tuesday. The village is asking residents not use Lakeshore carts for collection until Thursday. Republic cannot pick up trash or recycling in Lakeshore containers.

Under Lakeshore, residents' service may remain Tuesday or Friday. However, many households may change. Check Lakeshore's service map on its website. The first Lakeshore collection will be delayed a day because of the New Year's holiday.

For residents who contacted Lakeshore after receiving the wrong cart size or requested a different cart size, cart switch-outs will start Monday.

Initial bills for the first quarter are tentatively scheduled to be sent out mid-February. This could change slightly depending on how many service and cart modifications are made in the coming days and weeks, according to the village. Residents should expect to receive invoices around the 15th of the month, preceding the next quarter.
