WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Two neighbors who were in a dispute over a right-of-way between their properties appear to have reached an agreement.

On Monday, both men confirmed to the Village Board that they were fine with buying their sides of the right-of-way. They agreed to replant some bushes on Conniff's side.

According to the village, the right-of-way was originally meant to be a street. Years ago, it is believed the land included a shared driveway for the houses.

The neighbors are Jim Conniff and Ray Swapa, who live in the 5100 block of Grant Avenue.

Conniff is set to pay the village $60,307 for his side of the right-of-way, while Swapa is expected to pay $61,710.

The dispute began last year when Swapa offered to buy 12 feet of the right-of-way, apparently as part of a plan to build a larger house.

The Village Board is expected to vote on the sales at a later meeting.
