Western Springs Plans To Raise Many Fees
Officials explained why they are making the changes to the code.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs is poised to raise many of its fees, citing different reasons.
For the first time in years, the village reviewed all of its fees, many of which are for zoning and building issues.
The village decided to work to consolidate the fees into a single list. Now, they are spread out among 92 sections of the village code. The combined list will make it easier to review fees in the future, officials said.

Among the reasons for hikes are reflecting actual costs for services and making them comparable to neighboring towns.
In many instances, the fees are expected to stay the same.

"It's bringing up the fees to a reasonable standard," Village President Heidi Rudolph said at Monday's Village Board meeting. "We're not doing this to have this big opportunity to increase revenue."
The board is expected to vote on the fees at a later meeting.
