Western Springs Police Reports: Car Crash, Criminal Damage to Vehicle, Possession of Cannabis

Western Springs Police Department provided crime and arrest information through Nov. 22.

Someone damaged the rear window of a parked car Nov. 21 at the Mariano’s on Gilbert Avenue, according to Western Springs police. The criminal damage to vehicle happened between 6 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. and cost an estimated $490.

Western Springs police arrested a 15-year-old boy Nov. 17 for possession of cannabis at Lyons Township South High School, according to police. The boy was issued a local ordinance citation.

A 23-year-old man was seriously injured in a car crash Nov. 15, after he ran off the road, rolled his car and hit a Western Springs welcome sign in the 3800 block of Wolf Road, according to Western Springs police. The man was speeding northbound around 5:12 a.m. on Wolf Road, approaching Ogden Avenue, when he moved into the southbound lane, ran off the left side of the road and hit a fire hydrant, according to police. The man’s car, a 2010 Ford Fusion, “rolled over and went airborne” before it struck a Village of Western Springs welcome sign, police reported. The car then hit a traffic signal before it landed on the hood/passenger side. The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Criminal charges against him are pending, and the incident is still being investigated, according to Western Springs police.
