Western Springs Police Reports: Theft, Suspended License, Stop Sign Damage

Western Springs Police Department provided crime and arrest information through Feb. 2.

A thief stole a purse Jan. 29 from a shopping card at Mariano’s in the 4700 block of Gilbert Avenue, according to Western Springs police.

A burglar stole a bicycle Jan. 30 from an unlocked detached garage in the 4100 block of Grand Avenue, according to Western Springs police.

James A Pappas, age 54 of 305 Bluff, La Grange, was arrested Jan. 29 for driving with a cancelled license, according to Western Springs police. He was stopped at Ogden and Interstate-294 for improper lane usage.

Stanley J Hughley, age 35 of 7260 S. South Shore Drive, Chicago, was arrested Jan. 30 for driving with a suspended license, according to Western Springs police. He was stopped at Ogden Avenue and Forest Avenue for speeding.

Samantha R. Cruea, age 20 of 2823 Buckingham, Westchester, was arrested Jan. 31 for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis and consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to Western Springs police. Police were checking a parked car at 41st Street and Wolf Road, and they found Cruea in the car. Police smelled burnt cannabis, and they found drug paraphernalia, less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and open alcohol, police reported.

Two male juveniles were charged with possession of fireworks and disorderly conduct on Jan. 31 after an officer found them using the fireworks to damage a stop sign at Woodland Avenue and Oak Street, according to Western Springs police. One juvenile is 15 years old from Western Springs, and the other male juvenile is 16 years old from Western Springs.
