Western Springs Resident Scammed Out Of $35,700: Police

In another case, officers responded to late-night swimming at Western Springs Pool.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – In recent weeks, Western Springs has handled cases involving a scam, trespassing, a minor with alcohol and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Western Springs police reports:

Scam

  • A resident in the 3800 block of Hampton Avenue was scammed out of $35,700 over the phone and email. Police were informed about it July 17. Patch filed a public records request about it.

Trespassing

  • An 18-year-old La Grange man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. July 12 on a criminal trespassing charge. Officers were informed about several people swimming at Western Springs Pool, 1300 Hillgrove Ave. They found the 18-year-old leaving the area.

Minor with alcohol

  • Police cited a youth for being a minor in possession of alcohol about 12:30 a.m. July 15 at Wolf Road and Burlington Avenue.

Retail theft

  • A 34-year-old Chicago man was arrested July 7 on a retail theft charge. Police said the theft occurred April 28 at Mariano's, 4700 Gilbert Ave.
