Western Springs Sees Small Increase In Virus Cases
Village's rate remains far lower than nearby towns, statistics show.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs saw three more coronavirus cases in the last week, according to Cook County Department of Health statistics. As of Sunday, the village had 19 cases, up from 16 a week earlier, a 19 percent increase.
Here is a look at the growth in Western Springs' coronavirus case number:

Western Springs' number works out to 1.4 cases per thousand people, which compares well to other nearby towns — 2.9 in La Grange Park, 3 in Elmhurst and Clarendon Hills, 3.6 in Darien, 6 in Burr Ridge, 6.5 in La Grange and 7.2 in Hinsdale. The south suburbs, meanwhile, are seeing considerably higher rates. Park Forest, for example, has 14.8 cases per thousand people.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 61,499. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 2,618 Illinois residents. Health authorities do not provide the number of deaths by municipality.
Nationally, nearly 1.2 million people have caught the virus, and 68,286 people have died from it.
