Western Springs Village Clerk Announces Campaign For District 41 State Senator

A Western Springs Democrat has announced her candidacy for State Senator for District 41.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A Western Springs Democrat has announced her candidacy for State Senator for District 41. Bridget Fitzgerald, who currently serves as the village clerk for Western Springs, will run for the senator position, currently filled by Republican John Curran of Downers Grove.

“My mission is to bring people together. We are due for an upgrade in Springfield,” Fitzgerald said in a release.

According to a release from her campaign, Fitzgerald works at the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office as a Community Affairs Specialist. Prior to her government experience, Fitzgerald was a Health Solutions Sales Executive at Humana. Fitzgerald was also elected as the Illinois representative to Humana’s Business Culture Advisory Council.

Fitzgerald is an active member of the West Central Municipal Conference (WCMP), Illinois Municipal Clerks Organization and a board member of the Illinois Chapter of Democratic Municipal Officials (DMO). Fitzgerald holds a unique set of experience and perspectives that will meet the needs of the district.

“I’m excited to generate new energy to the 41st District,” Fitzgerald said in a release.

According to her website, as the Western Springs Clerk, Fitzgerald has worked to make government more efficient and give money back to taxpayers. She stated on her website that she will work to rein in excessive state spending to cut taxes, implement ethics reforms like term limits on legislative leaders and protect women’s health.

District 41 includes the communities or parts of the towns of Western Springs, La Grange, Indian Head Park, Willow Springs, Lemont, Palos Park, Darien, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Downers Grove, Westmont, Willowbrook, Woodridge, Lisle, Naperville, Homer Glen and Lockport.
