Western Springs Woman Loses $12K In Scam: Cops
The fraud started after a phone number popped up on the resident's computer, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A resident in the 4800 block of Fair Elms Avenue told Western Springs police she lost $12,000 last week after depositing it into an unknown account, according to a report.
This happened after she called a phone number that popped up on her computer, police said. She said she was told by people at the number she called that she was the victim of identity theft.
The woman was directed to obtain the money and deposit it into an account, police said.
