Western Springs Woman Victim Of Fraud: Cops

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A Western Springs woman was defrauded out of thousands of dollars recently.

Her nephew called police to say his aunt's credit card was fraudulently charged more than $10,000 in purchases. Another $2,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from her checking account, police said. The fraud was reported last Wednesday. She lives in the 5200 block of Howard Avenue, police said.

Police reported two other identity theft cases:

• A resident in the 5900 block of Flagg Creek Lane told police Thursday that a $500 check mailed to a family member was fraudulently cashed.
• A resident in the 6000 block of Flagg Creek Lane informed police Friday that two fraudulent charges totaling $1,100 were made on her debit card.
