2 Gunmen Accused of Firing Into Crowded Park in Front of Cop: Prosecutors
The men tried to escape police, leading them on a high-speed chase Saturday through the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — Two gunmen shot in the direction of a crowded park in the East Garfield Park neighborhood over the weekend as an on-duty Chicago police officer witnessed the incident, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Frank Jackson, 24, and Aaron Harris, 22, were arrested Saturday, Oct. 15, after fleeing police by car and on foot, the report stated. Both men were charged with the aggravated discharge of a firearm and are being held without bail.
Milton Bills — the 26-year-old man accused of driving the car Jackson and Harris rode in to try to elude police — was arrested on suspicion of disobeying traffic stops and aggravated fleeing, according to the report. He also is being held without bail.

During a bail hearing Sunday, prosecutors claim an on-duty Chicago police sergeant witnessed Harris and Jackson carrying semi-automatic weapons around the 3400 block of West Madison Street, the report stated. The men allegedly fired rounds into the park, but none of the adults and children there at the time were hit or injured, the report added.
Harris and Jackson are accused of then fleeing the scene in the car they arrived in, with Bills allegedly behind the wheel, the Tribune reports. Police pursued the car in a high-speed chase through the West Garfield Park neighborhood, ending with the vehicle crashing around the 900 block of North Avenue, the report added.

Bills was taken into custody after police discovered him hiding under a car, the report added.
