2 West Side Men Accused Of Lying About Car Crash, Carjacking
Police said officers were able to figure out that two men were lying about a Near North carjacking and their involvement in a crash.

CHICAGO — Two men face felony charges after lying about a carjacking and crash in the Gold Coast neighborhood Thursday evening, police said. Angel Ramos, 20, was driving in the 800 block of North Lake Shore drive around 11:43 p.m., when he ignored a red light and hit two other vehicles, according to police.
Alvin-Vazquez Cruz, 24, was a passenger in Ramos' vehicle at the time of the crash, police said.
Ramos left the crash site and later flagged down a police car.

Both men told officers they were victims in an armed carjacking, according to police. The officers figured out they were lying, police said.
Ramos, of the 4600 block of West Palmer Street in the Hermosa neighborhood, was charged with a felony count of disorderly conduct - false report of offense. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license, and cited for disobeying the traffic light.

Vazquez-Cruz, 24, of the 5000 block of West Armitage in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood, was charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct - false report of offense.
The men were scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
