3 Men Accused Of Stealing $27K From Spouse's Business

Merchandise and cash was stolen from one of the men's spouses and sold on the Northwest Side, police said.

CHICAGO — Three men have been charged with stealing $21,000 in merchandise and $6,000 in cash from one of their spouse's businesses, police said. The goods were sold at a shop in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the city's Northwest Side, according to police.

Police said the men stole tools, coins, jewelry, cash, a handgun and two vehicles.

Alvin Boneta, 49, Dainus Cepulis, 46, and Marijus Jankunas, 47, were each charged with felony counts of theft, police said. Jankunas and Cepulis were also charged with enterprising in continuing financial crimes.

Detectives received a tip from a local business that stolen goods from their store were being sold at a second-hand shop in the 3200 block of North Cicero Avenue, and a nine-month investigation was launched, police said.

Detectives worked with the Cook County State's Attorney Office during the investigation, and arrest and search warrants were issued.

The three men were arrested on Wednesday. They appeared in central bond court Thursday.

They are scheduled to appear back in court on Dec. 6.
