3-Vehicle Crash in Broadview Leaves 1-Dead
The striking vehicle, a black Kia sedan, allegedly was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Roosevelt Road.

(Broadview, IL) A three-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of 17th and Roosevelt Road in Broadview on early Monday morning, which, tragically, included one fatality, a resident of Chicago.
The striking vehicle, a black Kia sedan, allegedly was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Roosevelt Road and struck a green minivan that was traveling southbound on 17th avenue, according to Village of Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills.
Due to the collision, both vehicles spun out of control and ended up on the sidewalk directly in front of the New2U resale shop. One of the vehicles also struck a PACE bus which was stopped at the intersection causing minor damage, but there were no injuries to the three individuals on board.

“Despite the valiant efforts by the Broadview Fire Department first responders, the minivan driver, who was transported to Loyola Hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival,” said Chief Mills.
The Kia sedan’s driver, a female driver was conscious, but was disoriented with visible injuries to several parts of her body, including her legs. She was also transported to Loyola Hospital where she is in serious, but stable condition, Mills noted.

From the Broadview Police Department’s initial investigation, the Kia was traveling west-bound on Roosevelt Road from 16th Avenue at a high rate of speed. Though not yet confirmed, the investigation indicates that the Kia drove through the red light at 17th Ave and Roosevelt Rd. The Kia struck the minivan traveling south-bound on 17th Avenue, which had already entered the intersection.
The driver of the Kia has a warrant for aggravated driving while license is revoked. The license of Kia driver is currently revoked stemming from a DUI and has multiple other convictions.
