Man Found Dead After Little Village Standoff | UPDATE

The incident Monday involved 2 men barricaded inside a home in the Little Village neighborhood, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A 68-year-old man was found dead and another person was taken into custody by police Monday after a SWAT team ended a possible hostage situation that lasted about four hours in the Little Village neighborhood, according to ABC Chicago.

The 68-year-old was found dead of a gunshot to the head, police told ABC. A weapon was reportedly recovered at the scene and a 37-year-old man was taken into custody.

The standoff began at around 7:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, when Chicago police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 3400 block of West 23rd Street, CBS reported.

A SWAT team was called in after shots were heard from inside the house, the report stated. A loudspeaker was used to negotiate with the man inside the home who instigated the standoff, the report added.

Police ended the standoff just after noon, according to the report.
