9-Year Old Girl Escapes Luring Attempt

Police have described the man who attempted to lure a 9-year-old girl into his vehicle on the West Side of Chicago.

CHICAGO, IL - A 9-year-old girl ran for her safety after she was approached by a man in an SUV on the West Side Monday afternoon. Police in Chicago's 12th District say that between 3:45 p.m. and 4:10 p.m., a man called out to the girl several times as she walked in the 300 block of North Whipple. Police say he followed the girl around the corner of the building at 3032 W. Fulton as she ran westbound on Fulton from Whipple.

The man is described as black, 30-39 years old with short black hair with twists and a mustache. He's approximately 6 foot tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was wearing a light blue jacket, possibly a Polo brand, while luring the child near Nancy Jefferson Park.

He was driving a white late model SUV, possibly a Lincoln Navigator, with tinted windows as he fled the area in an unknown direction.
