Armed Robberies Reported On Near West Side
Suspects went up to victims with a handgun and took their property, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have issued a community alert warning of armed robberies early Thursday morning on the Near West Side. In both robberies, suspects walked up to victims, showed a handgun and took their property, according to the alert. The first robbery happened around 2:20 a.m. in the 800 block of South Carpenter Street, police said.
The second robbery happened at around 3:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Chicago, police said.
No one was in custody.
