Attempted Robbery Leads To Shootout At Church On West Side
After announcing a robbery, the offender and a concealed carry owner exchanged gunfire, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A shootout at a Chicago church Wednesday left two men injured, police said. The exchange happened around 8:09 p.m. in West Garfield Park, according to authorities. Police said a 27-year-old man went into the church in the 4400 block of West Maypole Avenue, and announced a robbery.
The suspect and a 57-year-old man inside the church exchanged gunfire, police said.
According to authorities, the 57-year-old has a concealed carry license. He was shot in the left arm and taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

The suspect was shot multiple times in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
