Boy, 13, Killed On West Side

CHICAGO — A 13-year-old boy was shot Sunday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood. The boy was walking in the 5500 block of West Monroe street around 4:40 p.m. when someone in a green SUV fired shots, police said.

The boy was shot in his chest and shoulder, authorities said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the victim as Ujuan Drape of the Austin neighborhood, according to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Area North detectives were investigating. No one was in custody.
