(Broadview, IL) – The Village of Broadview approved this week a cost-sharing plan with Cook County that would enable county officials to demolish the town’s most dilapidated building, saving Broadview $75,000 in demolition costs.

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its regular board meeting on Monday, December 5, to approve an intergovernmental agreement with Cook County to share the cost of the demolition of the shuttered, one-story building at 2412 South 9th Avenue. Of the projected $100,000 demolition cost, Cook County will pay of $75,000 the bill.

“The agreement with Cook County is the type of collaboration that I have championed as mayor in order to identify opportunities to advance positive, concrete changes in Broadview at lower financial costs to our residents,” said Mayor Katrina Thompson. “The building on 9th Avenue, which sits between two private homes, is an eyesore and a public health hazard, so the village will have it demolished and save $75,000 in the process.”
