Broadview Police Officer Sworn In. Her Mom, the Fire Chief, Looks On.
Mayor Thompson Says Broadview Police Department is Being Transformed

(Broadview, IL) – The Village of Broadview this week swore-in its newest police officer while her father and mother – Broadview’s fire chief – looked on.
Office Patricia Scalise took her oath of office on Monday during the village’s monthly Board of Trustees meeting while her dad, David Scalise, and mom, Fire Chief Tracy Kenny, stood just behind their daughter side beaming.
“A couple weeks ago we had our first female crew of police officers that out outnumbered men on a shift, and that was history-making in Broadview,” said Mayor Katrina Thompson after Scalise was sworn-in. “We now have four women in our police department with one sergeant who is a woman. That’s transformational.”

“Transformation” in Broadview.
“Speaking as a woman in a leadership position, I am grateful to see the transformation that Broadview is making as it relates to being diverse, as it relates to women, to race, to religion,” said Thompson. “When we care about and treat equally all people, that is when you see transformation become a reality, and that makes Broadview strong. We are transformational leaders in Broadview, and you are looking at a group of women here on this all-women board of trustees who are leaders.”
