The little boy was sitting in the back seat of an SUV outside a laundromat, police said.

CHICAGO — A 3-year-old boy was inside a car when it was stolen in the West Town neighborhood Wednesday evening, police said. The boy was sitting in the back seat of the SUV around 7:20 p.m., when it was stolen in the 1500 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to police.

The car was found in an alley near North Bishop Street and Chicago Avenue about a block away, police said. Officers found the boy sitting in the back seat, and returned him to his family. He was not injured.

The description of the suspect is vague — witnesses said they saw a man wearing all black running east in the alley, police said.
