CPD Officers Shoot Armed Man During West Side Chase: Police

Chicago police shot and killed a man Tuesday night in West Garfield Park, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police said an armed man was shot by officers during a confrontation on the West Side Tuesday evening. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Fulton in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. A man with a gun was reported in the area, according to police, and officers responded.

Upon arriving on scene, a man holding a gun ran from the officers, police said. The officers were "confronted" by the man, according to police, and they fired several shots.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where he later died, police said.

The man, identified as Terrell Eason, 33, worked for the Salvation Army and had four young children, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune. Several dozen people gathered on the block where he was shot on Wednesday in remembrance of him, the Tribune reported.
