Dapper Bandit Robs Little Italy Bank

The FBI believes he has now robbed 3 banks in the past 3 months.

CHICAGO — A smartly-dressed bank robber has struck three Chicago banks so far this year, according to the FBI. The latest robbery took place around 12:34 p.m. Tuesday inside Royal Bank at 1410 West Taylor St. in the Little Italy neighborhood. A man walked into the bank wearing a black leather trench coat, a pastel dress shirt with a dark tie and a black leather cap and demanded money from a single teller without brandishing a weapon.

The robber was described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall and aged somewhere between his late 40s and mid-50s. He has a thin build and a light complexion, according to the FBI.

Investigators believe the same man carried out two other robberies this year.

First, he hit an MB Financial Bank at 3030 East 92nd St. in the South Chicago neighborhood on the morning of Jan. 11.

Then on the afternoon of Feb. 16, he robbed a downtown Citibank at 11 South LaSalle St.

The FBI said he should be considered armed and dangerous and has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading directly to the man's arrest.
