DUI Crackdown Planned on West Side This Weekend

Cops will be out in full force looking for drunk drivers in the Ogden 10th District Saturday night.

CHICAGO, IL - The Chicago Police Department’s DUI Strike Force Patrol will be out in full force Saturday night on the West Side.

A unit will be conducting DUI checks in the Ogden District (10th), which covers much of the city’s West Side, from 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 until 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 1.

“The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving,” according to a police news release sent this week. “Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations.”

Police on patrol during those hours will be equipped with breath alcohol testing devices in order to speed up the process of charging a drunk driver with a DUI. Mobile units will also be on hand.
