West Side Factory Collapses After Fire

A fire broke out in a truck repair factory Monday morning.

CHICAGO, IL — A building collapsed on Chicago's West Side early Monday morning. A fire broke out just before 1 a.m. in a truck repair factory at Cicero Avenue and Lake Street, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The fire was put out around 2:15 a.m., officials said.

Fire officials said there were several small tire explosions during the fire. A building near the factory was evacuated, according to the Chicago Fire Department. One of the entrances to the CTA 'L' station at Cicero and Lake was blocked off while firefighters put out hot spots.

A firefighter was injured after slipping on the icy ground in the area, however no other injuries were reported.
