Family Of Teen Found Dead On West Side Asks For Public's Help

The family gathered in East Garfield Park on Sunday to pray and ask for help.

CHICAGO, IL — The family and friends of a girl who was found dead in an abandoned building on the West Side are asking for the public's help. They hope that anyone with information about the death will come forward. Sadaria Davis, 15, was found May 11 in a vacant apartment building in West Garfield Park, police said.

Her body was found on the floor of the building in the 200 block of South Hamlin Boulevard, six blocks from her home, police said. Davis was reported missing on April 25.

Her cousin Luwana Johnson posted a plea on Facebook asking for the public's help, and the hashtag #justice4Saadaaria has been circulating with a photo of Davis.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office hasn't been able to determine how she died. Her family believes she was murdered, according to Johnson's post.

In an interview with ABC 7, her mother Nicole Sargeant said she knew something was wrong when her daughter missed her curfew.

"I can't sleep. I can't eat. Every time I close my eyes, all I see is my baby because I know she didn't deserve what you did to her," Sargeant told ABC 7.

Anyone with information about Davis' death is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8266.
