Father Of 43 Children Killed On West Side: Report

CHICAGO, IL — A 63-year-old man was found beaten to death Sunday afternoon on the West Side, police said. He was killed in the 1000 block of North Leamington Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood, police said. The man was a father of 43 children, according to a report by ABC 7.

The victim was found with head trauma in his apartment, police said.

Family members said that John Hearring, known as Nicolas, had 43 children, according to the ABC 7 report.

Gwen Bridgeforth, his daughter-in-law, told ABC 7 that he was "the nicest man you'd ever want to meet."

Police were investigating the attack. No one was in custody.
