Parolee Escapes Arrest, Then Gets Away By Ramming IDOC Agent's Car

Harron Raggs, 24, fled a Near West Side parole office Monday when he was told there was a warrant for his arrest.

CHICAGO, IL — A 24-year-old man on parole escaped from an Illinois Department of Corrections parole office on the Near West Side after an agent tried to arrest him Monday, according to an IDOC spokeswoman.

Harron Raggs — on parole for a residential burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle conviction — arrived at the parole office in the 1100 block of South Oakley Boulevard in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood Monday, April 3, IDOC spokeswoman Nicole Wilson said. When he got there, an IDOC parole agent told Raggs there was a warrant for his arrest and started to take him into custody, Wilson said.

That's when Raggs fled. After eluding the agent, Raggs jumped into his car to make his getaway, Wilson said. As he sped off, he barrelled through an IDOC agent's car without stopping, she added.

No IDOC agents or employees were hurt during the escape, and the department's apprehension unit, along with U.S. Marshals, is hunting for Raggs, Wilson said.

Raggs is described as 5 feet-9-inches tall and about 160 pounds with brown eyes and hair. He has five tattoos, including "RIP Grandma" and a cross with a tribal symbol on his right forearm and "Trust None" on his neck, according to IDOC online records.
