Lindop District 92 Swears-in 1st Student School Board Member
Lindop's newest board of education member took his honorary seat at a swearing-in ceremony on September 21.

(Broadview, Illinois) – In suburban Cook County, Lindop Elementary School District 92’s seven-member Board of Education has been expanded to eight – with the addition of Lindop 8th grader Jarrell David as the first-ever student member.
Lindop’s newest board of education member took his honorary seat at a swearing-in ceremony at the district’s elementary school building in Broadview on September 21 in front of other board members, family, and friends.
“As the student board member, Jarrell will be responsible for providing the student perspective and the student experience on issues that come before the full-board as well serving as a communications link between the board and other students,” said Superintendent Dr. Janiece Jackson. “And the board expects that Jarrell will help the other board members make informed decisions on those that directly affect students.”

Jarrell ‘won’ his board seat after submitting an application, transcripts that attest to a 3.0 GPA or better, three letters of recommendation, and participating in a live interview with school officials.
“Jarrell is no ordinary student,” said Dr. Jackson. “Jarrell is one of the most brightest, thoughtful, and outgoing students in the district, so his appointment to the board is a natural step for such a talented young man.”

In addition to his new post as a student board member, Jarrell just finished a summer internship as an aide to Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson, who also praised him.
“Jarrell’s duties in the mayor’s office included calling residents, scheduling appointments, as well as attending community events, and he completed his assignments with a professionalism that is beyond his years,” said Thompson. “His dream is to be the President of the United States, and he is definitely on track to achieve that goal.”
Jarrell, who will serve a one-year term, will participate in the monthly board meetings on every third Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
