Man Crashes Mercedes Into CTA Bus After Fleeing Police
The man was seriously injured in a fiery crash on the West Side, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A man was fleeing police when he struck a CTA bus in the Lawndale neighborhood Monday evening, police said. The man was driving a black Mercedes when he hit the CTA bus while it was pulling out of a garage in the 400 block of South Kedzie Avenue, according to police. The Mercedes caught fire and the man was pulled from the vehicle, police said.
The police pursuit began when the man was driving in the 3800 block of West Washington Boulevard in East Garfield Park, police said. The man made an illegal lane change and police tried to pull him over, authorities said. He drove away from police, but was later spotted on Madison Street, where officers chased him again, according to police. He then struck the CTA bus, authorities said.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
