Man Found Dead In Lawndale Garbage Cart Identified

CHICAGO, IL — The body of a man was found last week inside a garbage cart on the West Side, police said. He was found in an alley off the 1400 block of South Hamlin in the Lawndale neighborhood, according to police. The man has been identified as Scott S. Johans, 47, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was found dead at around 11 a.m. June 13, police said.

An autopsy Thursday didn't rule on how Johans died, pending further investigation, the medical examiner's office said.

Area Central detectives were conducting a death investigation.
