Man Punches, Sexually Assaults Woman He Traps in His Car: Cops
Dale Lewis, 48, faces kidnapping and sexual assault charges stemming from the Monday incident on the West Side.

CHICAGO, IL — A Westchester man is accused beating, robbing and sexually assaulting a woman he pulled into his car Monday on the West Side, according to Chicago police.
Dale Lewis, 48, of the 10500 block of Essex Avenue, was charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual assault in the incident. His bail hearing is scheduled for later Wednesday, Jan. 11.
At about 8:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, the 24-year-old victim was walking in the 5700 block of West Lake Street in the Austin neighborhood when Lewis allegedly drove up next to her and forced her into his vehicle, police said. He then is accused of punching the victim in the face, stealing her money and sexually assaulting her, according to police.

Throughout the attack, the victim tried to fight off Lewis, and she was eventually able to escape. When she fled the vehicle, Lewis also tried to flee the scene, police said.
The victim's struggle and escape were seen by officers patroling nearby. They immediately pulled over Lewis, and he was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was taken to and treated at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
