Man, Woman Shot, Killed In West Garfield Park

Another person was wounded in the shooting, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Two people were killed and another person was wounded after shots were fired at an SUV on the West Side Wednesday morning, police said. The shooting happened around 3:40 a.m. in the 4300 block of West Lake Street in West Garfield Park, according to police.

Five people were inside an SUV, when another vehicle fired shots at them, police said. The SUV then crashed into a pillar under the L tracks near North Koster Avenue.

A 22-year-old woman was shot in the back, and a 21-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and once in the wrist, police said. Both were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

A 19-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating. No one was in custody.
