Woman Strangled, Killed In Lawndale: Autopsy

Officers saw signs of a struggle in the home where the woman died, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A woman was found dead Monday morning on the city's West Side, police said. The woman, 26, was found in a home in the Lawndale neighborhood around 11:45 a.m. She was found unresponsive in the home in the 1500 block of South Kolin Avenue, police said.

The woman was identified as Danisha Thompson, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Her autopsy revealed she had been strangled underwater, the office said. She lived in the same block, authorities said.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:15 p.m., police said. Signs of a struggle were seen at the scene and her death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
