Police Officers Save Man Trying To Jump Onto Expressway

Three Chicago cops saved a man who tried to jump over a guardrail onto the Kennedy Expressway earlier this week, CPD said.

CHICAGO, IL — Three police officers saved a man who tried to jump over a rail onto the Kennedy Expressway on the Northwest Side Monday, the Chicago Police Department said. Around 8 a.m., a 55-year-old man tried to lay in the middle of the street in the 5500 block of North Nagle Avenue, police said. Lt. Antonio Baio was called to the scene, and two other off-duty officers who were nearby heard about what was happening on a police radio and rushed to help Baio, CPD said.

When the officers arrived, the man ran toward a guardrail overtop of I-90 and tried to climb over the fence, police said.

Before the man could jump, Baio grabbed the man's waist and pulled him back. The off-duty cops —Officer Robert Roth and Officer Agnieszka Broniec — grabbed the man's arms and kept him away from the expressway.
