Shooting Victim Ran To Charter School For Safety, Another Killed
Two people were shot, one killed, near a charter school on the West Side of Chicago Monday morning.

CHICAGO, IL - Two people were shot, one fatally, near a charter school on the West Side Monday morning. Chicago police confirmed multiple people sustained gunshot wounds and a television news report indicates that one of the victims ran into the YCCS-West Youth Connection Charter School for safety.
Police responded to the 1100 block of North Lamon Avenue in the city's Austin neighborhood at 9:11 a.m. and found one man dead and another man with a gunshot wound to the leg. The surviving victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, according to police in the 15th District.
ABC-7 reports that the shooting occurred near the West Campus of the Youth Connection Charter School, which has headquarters in the city's Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.

Circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately known, police said. No one was in custody as of 10:30 a.m.
