Suggestions for Renaming John Hancock Building are Wacky

Everything from the new "Sears Tower" to the "Arnold Tower" has been mentioned on Reddit.

CHICAGO, IL - One of Chicago's most iconic buildings is about to undergo a name change.

This time it's not the Sears, er, Willis Tower, but another skyscraper that is among the tallest in the city.

The John Hancock Center, built in 1969, could undergo an "imminent" name change, according to Curbed Chicago and other reports. A 15-year deal would not only change the name, but fund the plaza area on the ground level of the building looking over Michigan Avenue.

So what will the new name be? We don't know yet, but users on Reddit are having some fun with the possibilities.

"Should rename it the Sears Tower," wrote one commenter, who received 150 up votes. Others chimed in noting the confusion cab drivers would have when tourists would ask to go to the "Sears Tower."

Some poked fun at the corporate takeover of places we knew growing up.

The "Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Edition Corporate Center and Private Residence" was another suggestion. So was the "Mountain Dew Extreme Skyscraper with Doritos 3D Observation Deck."

The "Arnold Tower" was another fitting suggestion, to go along with the Willis Tower and the apparent connection the city has to Diff'rent Strokes.
