Teen Shot in Heart of Chicago

A 17-year-old was shot on the city's West Side.

CHICAGO, IL — A teen was shot in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The 17-year-old boy was on a sidewalk in the 2100 block of South Oakley Avenue when he was shot in the thigh, according to police. Police said a car drove by him and someone inside fired the shot.

The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition has stabilized, police said.

The car drove off after the shooting, and no one was in custody.
