Unwanted Kiss Given To Girl, 6, In NW Side Grocery Store: Cops

Chicago police are looking for the suspect who allegedly accosted the girl over the weekend.

CHICAGO, IL — Police are searching for a man who allegedly molested a 6-year-old girl over the weekend at a Northwest Side grocery store. The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at a store in the 3900 block of West Diversey Avenue in the Belmont Garden neighborhood, Chicago police stated in an alert Thursday.

According to police, the girl was approached by an unidentified man, who motioned to the child before allegedly kissing her on the cheek with his mouth. The man then allegedly grabbed the girl's hand and put it into his pants pocket, police said. The girl had been accompanied to the store by a relative, and the suspect fled on foot when confronted by that family member, the alert stated.

On Thursday, police released images of the suspect captured from video from store security cameras. According to police, the man might go by the name "Noel," and he is known to frequent the Logan Square area. The following description was given of the suspect:

  • a Hispanic man with a medium build
  • 40 to 50 years old
  • between 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall
  • black, medium-length hair
  • brown eyes
  • a tattoo on his lower left forearm.

During the incident, the suspect wore a black baseball cap; a black-and-gray vest; a white, long-sleeve sweatshirt with beige stripes; green camouflage pants; and black boots, police said.
