Who Fired Stray Bullet That Killed a Young Woman in Her Car a Year Ago? Police Ask for Help
Aaren O'Connor, 25, was talking to her family on her cellphone last February when she was hit in the head by an errant gunshot.

CHICAGO, IL — A year after a 25-year-old woman's life was brutally cut short by a stray bullet that tore through her while she was on the phone with her parents in her native San Diego, Chicago police are asking the public for help in finding the person who pulled the trigger on that errant yet fatal gunshot.
Aaren O'Connor, who had moved to Chicago to be near her boyfriend, was sitting in her car after work and talking to her family on her cellphone at about 6:38 p.m. Feb. 5 outside her home in the 2000 block of West 21st Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood. But gunfire from an individual shooting at a group of people chasing him interrupted her conversation.
"My head hurts," she kept repeating those last words to her father on the other end of the line after a bullet struck her head.

Finally, the call disconnected, and O'Connor passed out and slumped against the wheel of her car, where she stayed until her roommate found her and called 911. O'Connor was in critical condition at Stroger Hospital for two days before she died.
