Woman Run Down, Killed Following West Side Fight
The 27-year-old victim was one of two women in Chicago hit by cars after arguments Wednesday.

CHICAGO, IL — Two women were run down following two separate arguments in two different parts of Chicago. One of the women was killed in an incident on the West Side, and another suffered injuries that weren't considered life-threatening in the other accident, according to reports.

In the West Side incidient, a woman, 28, had been in an argument at about 5:06 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in the 300 block of North Latrobe Avenue in the Austin neighborhood when she got into her vehicle, drove off and hit multiple people, the Chicago Sun-Times report. A 27-year-old woman died after she was hit and dragged beneath the car, the report stated. She was taken to Maywood's Loyola University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, the report added. Although police know the identity of the driver, she has not been arrested or charged in the incident, the report added.

In the Near North Side accident, a woman, 22, was hurt trying to flee another woman who was threatening her with a knife during a fight, the Chicago Tribune reports. The altercation between the women happned at around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday in the first block of West Elm Street, the report stated. Two women had been fighting when one of the women pulled a knife on two other women — the victim and a 21-year-old — the report added.
When the two tried to escape by car, the victim was hit by the car she was trying to get into, which was being driven off by the 21-year-old, who didn't immediately stop, the report stated. The woman who was hurt was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, the report added.

The car's driver was cited by police for failure to render aid, the Tribune reports. It is not known if police are investigating the fight or the woman who drew the knife.
