4 Arrested; 55 Ticketed During St. Patrick's Day Crackdown In DuPage County

The safety campaign ran from March 13 through March 23.

DUPAGE COUNTY — Four arrests were made and 55 citations were issued during the St. Patrick's Day traffic enforcement initiative in DuPage County. The safety campaign ran March 13 through March 23.

One person was arrested for impaired driving, two people were arrested for driving without a valid driver's license an done person was arrested for battery.

  • 19 speeding tickets
  • Nine distracted driving tickets
  • Four tickets for operating an uninsured vehicle
  • Four tickets for disobeying a stop sign
  • Two tickets for driving with an expired license
  • Two tickets for driving without valid registration
  • Two tickets for improper lane usage
  • Two tickets for passing on the left
  • Two tickets for following too closely
  • One ticket for improper U-turn
  • One ticket for driving with expired plates
  • One ticket for failure to signal
  • One ticket for no turning signal light
  • One ticket for possession of open alcohol by a driver
  • One ticket for loud/excessive noise caused by a muffler/lack of a muffler
  • One ticket for failing to dim headlights
  • One ticket for a warning device/horn violation
  • One ticket for driving with registration suspended due to lack of insurance

"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

Mendrick added, "Whether it's alcohol, cannabis or another drug, impaired driving puts everyone at risk."
