41 Drivers Ticketed In DuPage County During Thanksgiving Crackdown
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued 41 tickets for traffic violations during increased patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office ticketed 41 drivers for violations as part of a safety campaign that included increased enforcements during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The following citations were issued during the campaign, which extended from Nov. 18 through Nov. 28:
- 20 speeding tickets
- 6 tickets for driving without insurance
- 5 tickets for distracted driving
- 3 tickets for expired plates
- 3 tickets for disobeying a traffic control device
- 2 seatbelt tickets
- 1 ticket for failing to use a turn signal
- 1 ticket for driving with open alcohol
"Our officers patrol year-round to keep motorists buckled up and impaired drivers off the roads,"DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a news release.

He added, "We do this to save lives and ensure all of us make it home safely at the end of the day."
The crackdown was part of a statewide initiative linked to the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns that are funded in part by money from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
