Wheaton Sub Shop Gets Visit From 6-Year-Old Burn Victim, Donates Sales to Children's Hospital

Restaurant donates 15% of sales to Shriners Hospitals for Children, hosts lunch with first responders and burn patients.

The Wheaton Firehouse Subs got a visit from some extra special visitors this past Saturday.

Burn survivor and Shriners Hospitals for Children National Burn Patient Ambassador, 6-year-old Owen Mahan, enjoyed a hearty and flavorful lunch with local first responders and other hometown heroes, in support of Shriners Hospitals for Children “Be Burn Aware” campaign. The national campaign educates parents on ways to reduce the risk of house fires and burn injuries during the holiday season. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, on average, 128,700 residential fires take place in the month of December, more than any other time of year.

Participating Firehouse Subs locations, including restaurants in Wheaton, Naperville and Orland Park, donated 15% of Saturday’s sales to support Shriners Hospitals for Children.
